Jacques Bernardin Henri de Saint-Pierre:
(Le Havre, 19 January 1737 – Éragny(Cergy-Pontoise), 21 January 1814).
French engineer, world traveller, writer, botanist, vegetarian and professor of moral philosophy. Bernardin was the main representative of Rousseau’s Enlightenment ideas; with his ‘Études de la nature’ he influenced the Romantic writers of the 19th century.
