Paul Valery

Ambroise-Paul-Toussaint-Jules Valéry:

(Sète, 30 October 1871 – Paris, 20 July 1945).
French poet, essayist, philosopher and author of aphorisms.
As a poet, Valéry was known as an exponent of Poésie pure, for which the mythological figure Narcissus in particular was a symbol for him (his perhaps best-known poem is also called Narcissus speaks (Narcisse parle). His main lyrical works are considered La jeune Parque (1917) and Charmes (1922). Valéry is considered the last of the symbolists. He was a member of the Académie française.
