Philip Pullman:

British fantasy writer. He is best known for The Northern Lights, or His Dark Materials, a trilogy published under the Dutch title Het Noorderlicht, consisting of The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass.
The first book in Pullman’s series was adapted for film in 2007, as were the first two books in the Sally Lockhart series and the children’s book I Was a Rat! In 2008, The Times named Pullman in their list of ‘The 50 greatest British writers since 1945’.
