Charles André Joseph Marie de Gaulle:
(Lille, 22 November 1890 – Colombey-les-Deux-Églises, 9 November 1970).
French military officer and politician. He fought as an officer in the Battle of Verdun during World War I and was the leader of a French government in exile during World War II. De Gaulle was the 18th president of the French Republic from 1959 to 1969 and the founder of the Fifth French Republic.

As a politician never believes what he says, he is surprised when he is taken at his word.

At the root of our civilisation is the freedom of each individual to think, believe, express opinions, work and play.
