Irma Joubert was born in Pretoria and grew up on a farm in Bosveld. After studying history at the University of Pretoria and UNISA, she taught Afrikaans and history at a secondary school until 2004. After retiring, she took several writing courses. Her first two books, “Verbode Drif” (Forbidden Drif) and “Ver Wink die Suiderkruis” (Winning the Suiderkruis), were published in 2006. With her background as a historian, the author incorporates many historical facts into her novels. Nine of her books have now been published in Dutch translation by Mozaïek (all translated by Dorienke de Vries).
