Abraham Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln:

(Hodgenville, Kentucky, 12 February 1809 – Washington D.C., 15 April 1865).
16th president of the United States. He served from 1861 until his death in 1865. Lincoln was the first president of the United States to be assassinated while in office.

Lincoln is considered one of the greatest US presidents. He is praised for his leadership during the US Civil War, the abolition of slavery, the strengthening of the national government and the modernisation of the economy.

I invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next as a day of thanksgiving and praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the heavens.
