I don’t understand why when we destroy something created by man, we call it vandalism, but when we destroy something created by nature, we call it progress.
Image: Peter van Geest AI. Meaning: This quote is a powerful critique of our paradoxical attitude towards destruction: When someone destroys a building, work of art or monument (man-made), we call it vandalism and consider it reprehensible. But when we cut down forests, destroy nature reserves, pollute rivers or devastate ecosystems (created by nature), we often call it “progress” or “development”.
