(Tarsus (Cilicia), c. 3 – probably Rome, after 60).
A leader in early Christianity, he played a central role in the early (intellectual) development and spread of Christianity in the regions around the Mediterranean, particularly in Asia Minor and Greece. He wrote a number of letters that are included in the Greek scriptures (also known as the New Testament).
