Marion Hedda Ilse Countess Dönhoff:
(Königsberg, 2 December 1909 – Friesenhagen, 11 March 2002) was a prominent German journalist.
Dönhoff came from a distinguished noble family. Her father, Count August Karl Dönhoff, was a diplomat and politician. Her mother, Maria von Lepel, was a lady-in-waiting in extraordinary service to the last German empress, Augusta Victoria. Marion was born on the family estate Schloss Friedrichstein, 18 km east of Königsberg (now Kaliningrad) in East Prussia. The castle and the surrounding nature are a recurring theme in her work.

The relentless pursuit of ever-new progress, ever-greater freedom, and the satisfaction of constantly rising expectations destroys every community and ultimately leads to anarchic conditions.
