Mark Freuder Knopfler:
(Glasgow, 12 August 1949).
British singer and guitarist. He became best known as frontman of British rock band Dire Straits.
His famous guitar playing seems to be a cross between the soaring sound of Hank B. Marvin’s The Shadows and J.J. Cale’s fingerpicking. Knopfler’s low nasal voice evokes memories of Bob Dylan and also J.J. Cale[He collaborated on Bob Dylan’s 1979 album Slow Train Coming and 1983’s Infidels.
