I should not like my writing to spare other people the trouble of thinking. But if possible, to stimulate someone to thoughts of his own.

What I miss most is someone I can talk nonsens to by the yard.

What the solipsist means is quite correct; only it cannot be said, but makes itself manifest. The world is *my* world: this is manifest in the fact that the limits of language (of that language which alone I understand) mean the limits of *my* world.

The difficulty in philosophy is to say no more than we know.

Image: Peter van Geest AI. Meaning: Essentially, Wittgenstein warns against the natural tendency of philosophers to go beyond the given material and make claims that are not grounded in what we actually know. It requires modesty and strict linguistic criticism to avoid falling into unfounded speculation. Origin: This quote comes from ‘The Blue Book’ (p. 45), a work Wittgenstein wrote between approximately 1931 and 1935 and which was published posthumously in 1965. This book contains notes he used during his lectures at Cambridge and forms a bridge between his early and late philosophical periods.
