Robert Adams:
(1928 – 1997).
Well-known and beloved American advaita teacher.
At the age of 14, during a maths test at school, he had an enlightenment experience. Four years later, with a small inheritance in his pocket, he left for India, to the holy mountain Arunachala where Ramana Maharshi had his ashram. There he stayed for the last three years of Ramana’s life, after which he returned to America.
Adams himself wrote no books and published nothing about his teachings. He did not want a large group of followers, preferring instead to teach a small number of dedicated seekers. In 1992, his disciples compiled a book of dialogues for their own use. A later edition of this book was published posthumously and appeared in two volumes by Samsara publishers under the titles Silence of the Heart, Volume 1 and Silence of the Heart, Volume 2. From this title it is already clear that Robert Adams considered silence to be the highest form of teaching.

The only burden you have ever had is your mind.
