Niels Bohr

Niels Henrik David Bohr:

(Copenhagen, 7 October 1885 – there, 18 November 1962).
Danish theoretical physicist and theoretical chemist. He received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1922.

Niels Bohr is widely regarded as one of the founding fathers of atomic physics. Whereas Ernest Rutherford, as a great experimenter, discovered much about the internal structure of the atom, it was Bohr’s great achievement to formulate a theoretical basis for this new atomic model, thus also making a major contribution to the most talked-about branch of physics in the 20th century: quantum mechanics.
