Al Ghazãlī

Abu Hamid ibn Muhammad al-Ghazālī :

(Toes, Khorasan) – 1058 verm. Nishapur or Toes, 19 December 1111). Persian Muslim, jurist and Mujaddid imam. In the West, he is known as Algazel. He is the only Islamic scholar to hold the title Huddjat al-islaam (proof of Islam) and is considered one of the greatest Islamic scholars of all time. His influence on Arab philosophy is sometimes compared to the influence of scholastic philosopher Thomas Aquinas on Christian philosophy.
