Anne Rice:

Born as Howard Allen O’Brien.
(New Orleans (Louisiana), 4 October 1941 – Rancho Mirage (California), 11 December 2021).
American writer. She wrote gothic novels, Christian books and erotic literature, and was the author of several popular book series.

Among her works are The Vampire Chronicles and The Lives of the Mayfair Witches. The books are of the mystery-horror genre, with the vampire Lestat as the main protagonist in The Vampire Chronicles and the ghost/Taltos Lasher in The Mayfair Witches. The Vampire Chronicles is about the adventures of Lestat and other vampires; The Mayfair Witches is about the spirit Lasher, who tries to obtain a body through thirteen generations of Mayfair witches and who eventually comes through as a Taltos, a super-race.
