Zia Inayat Khan:
(Novato, California, 1971).
Also called Pir Zia, is president and spiritual leader or Pir of the International Sufi Order.
He is the son and successor of Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan and grandson of Hazrat Inayat Khan. In addition to the interfaith mystical training he received from his father, Pir Zia studied Sufism in the classical Indian tradition of the Chisti Order and Buddhism under the auspices of the Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso. He conveys the ecumenical, universal teachings of Sufism through stories and poetry, contemplative perspectives and meditation exercises.
Pir Zia Inayat Khan lives with his wife and two children at the ‘Abode of the Message’, a spiritual living community and retreat centre in New Lebanon, New York (USA). Zia regularly lectures on Sufism in North America, Europe and India.
It is easy to become a teacher, but difficult to become a student.
Once the inner sense has broken down the walls around it, it breathes freedom and happiness, which are the property of the soul and which the soul then attains.
