Gaius Valerius Catullus:
(Verona, c. 84 -Rome, between 54 and 47 BC).
The first great Latin lyricist. One of the most influential poets of the 1st century BC from the Ciceronian period – see Roman literature – he wrote about 116 poems (total about 2,300 verses (verse lines)).
These poems were later collected in the Carmina Catulli.
His style is varied and his works include love poems, mock poems and epic poems (epigrams).

It is difficult to suddenly relinquish a love that has been cherished for a long time.
