Marie Geneviève Charlotte Thiroux d’Arconville:
Born Darlus
(Paris, 17 October 1720 – there, 23 December 1805) .
French man of letters and naturalist. She wrote numerous philosophical, historical and literary works, which she usually published anonymously. She also translated English fiction and non-fiction into French. Her greatest contribution was her in-depth research on decay. Since the rediscovery of 12 volumes of her manuscripts in 2007, literature on d’Arconville has greatly expanded.
The friendship, which demands nothing and never complains, is almost always weak.
Most men want to be admired more than they want to be loved. Admiration satisfies self-love, and all men have it. Friendship is a matter of feelings, and there are many people who have none.
The friendship that springs from love is even better than love itself.
