March is a month of considerable frustration it is so near spring and yet across a great deal of the country, the weather is still so violent and changeable that outdoor activity in our yards seems light-years away.

Photo: NOAA. Meaning 🌷:  The quote describes the frustration that many gardeners and outdoor enthusiasts feel in the month of March. Although spring officially begins and the days are lengthening, the weather is often still very turbulent and changeable. This makes it seem as if the real gardening season is still very far away, leading to impatience and a longing for better times. Origin: The quote comes from the book “The Gardening Year,” also known by the title “To Everything There Is a Season.” This book is a collection of the author’s years of gardening columns and experiences, organized month by month. The book was published in 1990 by Lyons Press. Author: The quote is attributed to Thalassa Cruso. She was a well-known gardener who shared her knowledge and passion through columns and books, and inspired many people to take up gardening with her work.
