Nikola Tesla:
(Smiljan, 10 July 1856 – New York, 7 January 1943).
Inventor, electrical engineer and physicist. He is considered one of the greatest engineers and inventors of all time.
Nikola Tesla is best known to the general public as the inventor of the alternating current generator, the alternating current electric motor and other key components of today’s electrical grid. These devices had mostly been developed in rudimentary form by earlier engineers before Tesla’s time. Tesla’s merit was that he developed the alternating current principle much further and greatly improved or designed himself almost all the necessary devices for an alternating current-based reliable power grid. Tesla was already a well-known and famous scholar in his lifetime, but lost much prestige due to his unproven claims about engineering and science made later in life. He became the epitome of the mad scientist in the United States. Others preferred to call him idealistic and non-commercial and therefore an antithesis of his equally famous rival inventor Thomas Alva Edison.
The unit of magnetic flux density, the tesla (symbol T), was named after Tesla in 1960.

The radio, I know I’m its father, but I don’t like it. It’s a nuisance. I never listen to it. The radio is a distraction and keeps you from concentrating. There are too many distractions in this life for quality of thought; and it’s quality of thought, not quantity, that counts.
