The proper use of science is not to conquer nature, but to live in it.

Image: Peter van Geest AI. Meaning: True progress lies not in domination, but in cooperation with nature. Origin: A paraphrase of a thought from Commoner’s work from the 1960s–1970s, particularly his influential book The Closing Circle (1971). In it, he argued that science and technology should not be used to dominate or exploit nature, but to live in harmony with its laws.
