Maurice Sendak

Maurice Bernard Sendak:

(Brooklyn, New York, 10 June 1928 – Danbury, Connecticut, 8 May 2012).
American author and illustrator of children’s books.

His best-known work is the book Where the Wild Things Are (1963). The book was published in the Netherlands under the title Max and the Maximonsters. Sendak also wrote and illustrated an animated series called Bumble Ardy, based on his own book. In it, Jim Henson did the voice of Bumble Ardy. Sendak further illustrated the Little Bear series, written by Else Holmelund Minarik.
