Ovidius

Publius Ovidius Naso:

(Sulmo, Italy, 20 March 43 BC – Tomis, Greece, 17 AD).
Along with Vergil, Horace, Propertius and Tibullus, belongs to the great poets of the Augustan era. Together with the first two, he is considered one of the canonical poets of Latin literature. With the latter two, he formed the elegiaci. Ovid was friends with Propertius, Bassus and Ponticus. Virgil and Tibullus are said to have died before Ovid could have met them, although Ovid himself does claim to have seen Virgil.
