Pierre Ambroise François Choderlos de Laclos:
(Amiens, 18 October 1741 – Tarente, 5 September 1803).French army general. He is famous for his epistolary novel Les Liaisons dangereuses, a classic masterpiece that tells of seduction, revenge and human ruthlessness. However, the author intended this novel to hold up a mirror to his contemporaries of the corruption and moral degeneracy of the ancien régime. The book has been filmed several times, the best known being Dangerous Liaisons, Stephen Frears’ 1988 version. In 1989, Miloš Forman released the film Valmont, also based on Choderlos de Laclos’ epistolary novel.
Hatred is always brighter and more ingenious than friendship.
