Yann Martel:
(Salamanca, 25 June 1963) is a Canadian writer.
Yann Martel was born in Spain in 1963 and lived in Alaska, Costa Rica, France and Mexico, among other places, as his father worked as a teacher and diplomat. Travelling is in his blood, and later in life he lived in Iran, Turkey and India, among other places. He studied philosophy at Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario, and began his writing career when he was 26.
Martel’s worldwide breakthrough was his novel The Life of Pi.
