George Raymond Richard Martin:

(Bayonne (New Jersey), 20 September 1948).
American writer of high fantasy, science fiction and screenplays as well as being a film producer.

He has taught journalism and has been an organiser of chess tournaments. The series The Song of Ice and Fire, on which the television series Game of Thrones is based, is considered, even by himself, his magnum opus.
