Djuna Barnes:
(Cornwall-on-Hudson, Orange County in New York State, 12 June 1892 – New York, 18 June 1982).
American writer of novels, short stories and plays, poet and journalist. She also made illustrations, initially in a style borrowed directly from Aubrey Beardsley, later in a more personal form. She also painted, but stopped doing so later in life when an exhibition in New York brought no buyers at all.
