Paul Bernard Cliteur:
(Amsterdam, 6 September 1955) is a Dutch legal philosopher and former politician. He is known for his right-liberal leanings, his atheism, republicanism and commitment to animal rights.
Cliteur is also administratively and politically active. For example, he was a trustee of the Telders Foundation (the scientific bureau of the VVD) and chairman of the Humanist Alliance from 1993 to 1995. In 2001, he was ambassador of the Pigs in Distress Foundation. Since 2015, Cliteur has been associated with the Forum for Democracy party, where he has been chairman of the scientific bureau and the Advisory Council, among other things. During the 2017 Lower House elections, he was a list duper and from 2019 to 2020, Cliteur served as parliamentary group chairman in the Senate. In 2020, Cliteur was appointed vice group chairman in the Senate. On 25 November 2020, Cliteur resigned as a member of the Senate; however, he remained a member of his party.
