Esther (Etty) Hillesum:
(Middelburg, 15 January 1914 – Auschwitz, Poland, ca. 30 November 1943).
Writer, born into a Jewish-Dutch family, gained fame in 1981 with the publication of an anthology from her diary, 38 years after she was murdered in Auschwitz. In her diary, she articulated her personal, inner development amid the turbulence of World War II and the absurdities of the Holocaust. The book is not only a strong personal document, but also gives some insight into how the anti-Jewish measures and deportations during those years affected Jews themselves.

Sometimes the most important thing in a whole day is the rest we take between two deep breaths.
