Jean de La Bruyère:

(Paris, 16 August 1645 – Versailles, 10 May 1696).
French writer and moralist. He became best known for his work Les Caractères de Théophraste, traduits du grec, avec les caractères ou les mœurs de ce siècle with satirical portraits of his contemporaries.
