Ferdinand Domela Nieuwenhuis:
(Amsterdam, 31 December 1846 – Hilversum, 18 November 1919). Dutch socialist politician and later a social anarchist and anti-militarist. Domela Nieuwenhuis is considered one of the founders of the socialist movement in the Netherlands. He founded the magazine Recht voor Allen in 1879. Later, in 1898, he was founder of the magazine De Vrije Socialist.
His original name was Nieuwenhuis, but in 1859 his family received permission by royal decree to add the surname ‘Domela’, so the family name henceforth became Domela Nieuwenhuis.
