Dag Hjalmar Agne Carl Hammarskjöld:
(Jönköping, 29 July 1905 – Ndola, 18 September 1961)
Swedish diplomat. He was Secretary-General of the United Nations from 10 April 1953 until 18 September 1961 when he died as a result of a plane crash during his peacekeeping mission in Congo. Hammarskjöld was posthumously awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1961.
If you have meant something to one person in your life, then you have not lived in vain.
The more faithfully you listen to the voices within you, the better you will hear what is sounding outside.
Silence is the space around every action and every coexistence as human beings. Friendship needs no words – it is solitude freed from the anguish of loneliness.
“Freedom from fear” could sum up the whole philosophy of human rights.
